How to delete your Zumi account and personal data, and what we must keep by law.
1. Delete from the app
You can delete your account yourself at any time. Deletion starts immediately and completes within 30 days.
- Open Zumi and go to your Profile.
- Tap the menu (three lines) in the top corner, then Settings and privacy.
- Tap Account, then Delete account, and confirm with your password.
2. Delete without the app
If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, email support@zuma.social from the email address on the account with the subject "Delete my account". We verify the request and confirm by email before anything is removed.
3. What is deleted
When deletion completes we permanently remove:
- Your profile, username, display name, bio and avatar.
- Your login credentials and sign-in methods.
- Your videos, photos, drafts, stories, live replays and podcast uploads.
- Your comments, likes, reposts, saves, sticker library and messages.
- Your followers, following list and location data.
4. What we must keep, and why
A small set of records cannot be deleted on request because Kenyan anti-money-laundering, tax and payment-dispute law requires us to keep them. These are held securely, never used for anything else, and destroyed when the retention period ends:
- Coin purchase and payment transaction records — 7 years.
- Creator wallet ledger entries and payout records — 7 years.
- Identity verification documents submitted for creator payouts — 7 years after the last payout.
- Fraud, chargeback and abuse investigation records — for the duration of the dispute plus the legal limitation period.
5. Before you delete
- Withdraw any available creator earnings first — an unverified or deleted wallet cannot be paid out.
- Unused Zumi Coins are not refundable on deletion, as set out in the Refund Policy.
- Deletion is permanent. Once complete, the account cannot be restored.
